Search Specific Type of Files [filetype:extension search]

You might all be familiar with google phrase search. Yes, queries enclosed between quotes is a phrase. example is "how to use the ipod". Recently google allows users to enter the same query in how-to-use-the-ipod form too.
Thus latest "BSNL broadband tariff" and latest BSNL-broadband-tariff are same.
( NOTE: no space between hyphens in a phrase search )

That being said, let us combine a phrase with google filetype queries.
The filetype query is one in which we specify the search to required filetype we want. Usually we know pdf has lot more data powerpoint files with pps filename extension is fun etc.
Try the interactive search Click Google Search. Do come back here to search if u hate entering filetypes etc. Happy Clicking!

This can be quite useful sometimes, say

* when u are searching for information on a latest topic for your seminar or presentation.
* if you're interested to know what people are doing with ASP.NET, you can use filetype:aspx". E.g. [ filetype:aspx users directory ]
* to get source code of program in c or c++. E.g. [ filetype:cpp quicksort ]
* to get funny ppt slides or flash files etc

Common Google filetypes are
PowerPoint (.ppt) filetype:ppt
PowerPoint Show (.pps) filetype:pps
Excel (.xls) filetype:xls
Word documents (.doc) filetype:doc
Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) filetype:pdf
Adobe Postscript (.ps) filetype:ps
Rich Text Format (.rtf) filetype:rtf
Text Files (.txt) filetype:txt
C Program files (.c) filetype:c
C++ Source Codes (.cpp) filetype:cpp
Shockwave Flash filetype:swf

We can also combine filetype searches like
"social-bookmarking" filetype:pdf OR filetype:doc
